Educator

I'm an Associate Lecturer at the Royal College of Art. I teach the MA Interior Design students at the Kensington campus within the superMATTER, superFUTURES and superREUSE platforms. The Interior Design faculty curates a series of tutorials, lectures, and workshops. The core of our teaching is about the observation, engagement, interpretation and response to the materiality of interior spaces and experiences, within a given structure.

Shaping and delivering the curriculum within the programmes of the School of Design is one of the joys of being part of the faculty. My role includes the organization of exhibitions and events, delivering workshops, seminars, crits, and tutorials, and participating in examination panels. Contributing my expertise and knowledge to the Future Practice project which is designed to facilitate the discovery, communication, and presentation of the student’s identity as a designer. It is required and assessed against specific learning outcomes. This programme engages students in exploring the possibilities for their future recruitment, leadership and development as entrepreneurs in a cosmopolitan workplace beyond graduation.

Simon is a great ambassador for British interior design. He really understands the international market place and as a practicing designer himself, knows first hand the challenges faced by businesses in the sector. He understands stakeholder management and the nuances of working with the public sector as well as delivering for BIID members. He is as comfortable speaking on a stage in front of a 1,000 as he is in a room with 1. He is enthusiastic and a joy to work with.
