Educator & Mentor
As Associate Lecturer and The Super Practice Leader at the Royal College of Art, London, Simon plays an important role in supporting and shaping the next generation of Interior Design MA students. Created specifically for the Kensington campus cohort, his role spans all three programme platforms: superMATTER, superREUSE and superFUTURES, placing professional practice within the academic experience.
Drawing on extensive design expertise, recruitment experience and deep industry knowledge, he works closely with students to uncover, define and confidently articulate their individual design identities. The Super Practice programme, a core element of the MA, equips students with the insight, skills and strategic thinking needed to navigate life beyond graduation, whether they are moving into practice, leadership roles or entrepreneurial pathways within a global design landscape.
Alongside teaching, he curates exhibitions and events, leads workshops and tutorials, and contributes to moderation, panels and public discussions. Simon also supports the student-led Inside / Out lecture series and actively connects academia with industry through initiatives such as the Practice Mentorship Scheme. By engaging RCA alumni and leading design practices, he helps create meaningful opportunities for students to gain real-world insight, build lasting networks and explore future career directions with confidence.
Simon is a great ambassador for British interior design. He really understands the international market place and as a practicing designer himself, knows first hand the challenges faced by businesses in the sector. He understands stakeholder management and the nuances of working with the public sector as well as delivering for BIID members. He is as comfortable speaking on a stage in front of a 1,000 as he is in a room with 1. He is enthusiastic and a joy to work with.
